If you know, you will know that innovation and the constant search for improvements are inscribed in our DNA. Come on, we don’t stop. That’s why we’re always evolving and analyzing what our next step will be. To better understand our bikes, let’s do a little history…

A bit of history: a look back at Ossby’s latest folding e-bike models

Curve model, manufacturing begins made in Spain

In 2019 we started developing the latest model of the Ossby Curve, the novelties it included were: its aluminum frame, its low weight, an All In One motor in the Electric version (battery, sensors and motor in the rear wheel) and the optimization of the folding system of both the frame and the handlebars. This model was manufactured entirely in Spain, from the heat treatment of the aluminium to make it more resistant, through welding and painting, to the final assembly.

With the Curve models we lay the foundations of local production and establish ourselves as a benchmark brand in urban mobility in Spain. The manufacture of this bike was handmade, with a meticulous soldier of each piece making each electric folding bike (or not) almost a work of art. However, despite the beauty of this process, it limited us when it came to scaling, increasing production and growing as a brand. Our wish is that there will be many Ossby bikes rolling around every city. One more bike rolling = one less car = a greener and more pacified city.

It is here, at this point of search for optimization of the production process when…

We met the composite: the origin of the frame of the Ossby GEO folding ebike

As we love crazy things and research, we found a super innovative, very practical, resistant and sustainable material: biomaterial. With a Spanish factory specialising in this material, with which we began to collaborate, we carried out all the relevant studies for the feasibility of using these composite materials in the frame of a bicycle. The result was positive and a whole world of possibilities opened up to us thanks to the versatility offered by this new material. In addition, we could include in the It mixes recycled elements and a vegetable resin so that the entire process contributes to reducing emissions and reusing materials.

In this article we tell you all the details of what bio composite is and how we use it to manufacture our new urban electric bicycle.

Design, innovation and sustainability: the GEO folding and electric bike is born

With this new panorama, we were presented with the perfect time to improve and elevate the design of our bikes. We needed to collaborate with a design studio top to take our concept and give it a spin to improve it. It is at this point that we started working with Ànima Design, a product design agency from Barcelona. In other words, one of the best product design awards in Spain: they were awarded the most important design awards in Europe: IF, RedDot Award, Germany Design Awards,… and so on up to more than 60 awards.

After several meetings with engineers, technicians and designers, the Ossby GEO emerges, Ossby’s new folding electric bike bet.

Now, get ready to discover how innovation and technology are transforming the two-wheeled mobility experience!

Ossby GEO: the new era of sustainable mobility

We start this new journey with the Ossby GEO folding electric bike, a milestone in the evolution of urban mobility. This stunning creation combines the best of two worlds: the practicality of a scooter with the comfort and versatility of a bicycle. What makes the Ossby GEO so special? Let’s find out!

One of the most notable features is its innovative patented “EasyUp” folding system. In a single second you can fold the bike, allowing you to be on the move in no time. The Ossby Curve already integrated this system, but in this new model the folding and the safety handle have been optimized to make everything even smoother and easier.

On the other hand, another improvement is the reduced weight of the Ossby GEO, which makes it a light and agile travel companion. It is easy to transport and store, making it ideal for urban commuting and leisure trips. The Ossby Curve was already very light, but with GEO it’s even more incredible, as in a similar weight we’ve integrated bigger wheels, more speeds and high-quality components.

But the real revolution of the Ossby GEO lies in its sustainable biocomposite frame. Made with vegetable resins, recycled fibers and recycled plastics, Not only is this frame stronger and more effective than aluminium, but it also reduces the environmental impact of its production. With the Ossby GEO, you’re not only investing in your mobility, but also in a more sustainable future.

In addition to its innovative design, the Ossby GEO is equipped with first-class features to ensure an exceptional driving experience. Their 5 external hub speeds allow you to adapt your ride to any slope, while hydraulic disc brakes provide unparalleled braking safety and comfort. With a A range of over 50 km and a 250W Bluetooth motor, the Ossby GEO is ready to take you further than ever before.

The feedback received on our previous models was listened to and incorporated by increasing the size of the wheel, a request that many interested parties made and that we were able to carry out by integrating 14 and 16 inch wheels (instead of the 12 and 14 of the Curve) into the GEO. With this increase of only 2″ we make the bike more stable and users more confident when riding it. Don’t let the small wheels scare you! The ride and position of your body is identical to that of a traditional bike with larger wheels. We receive that feeling and feedback from users who try the Ossby for the first time.

  • Weight: The Ossby GEO is slightly lighter than the Ossby Curve Electric when you consider the increase in wheels. A weight that makes it easier to transport and handle in tight spaces.
  • Picture: While the Ossby Curve Electric features an aluminum frame, the Ossby GEO features a sustainable biocomposite frame, offering greater strength and durability.
  • Autonomy: The Ossby Curve Electric offered a slightly longer range, but the difference is not significant in the context of urban commuting and micromobility.
  • Wireless technology: The Ossby GEO introduces advanced features such as Ossby’s own APP, elevating the riding experience to a new level. The App will be your control center to be able to turn the engine on or off and select the 5 levels of assistance. You can also monitor the status and charge of the battery, the engine temperature, distance… You can find more information on our mobile app page.
  • Battery integrated into the frame: Previously, the Curve had an All In One electrical system, i.e. the battery, sensors and motor were integrated into the rear wheel. A revolution in electric folding bikes! However, this system did not allow us easy access to the battery for maintenance or replacement. With the GEO the battery is “hidden” in the central frame, giving easy access and keeping the lines discreet and minimal.
  • Speeds: With the GEO it has 5 speeds with external shifts, compared to the 3 speeds of the Curve.
  • Wheels: The Ossby GEO has 16″ (rear) and 14″ (front) wheels, an increase of 2 inches compared to the Curve. An increase that means more stability and a much safer feeling.
  • Folding handlebar: The GEO maintains the easy and practical folding handlebar system, following in the wake of the Curve.
  • Brakes: With the Curve there were already some quality super brakes, but we had the capacity to improve and give the GEO premium brakes, installing hydraulic brakes as standard to increase the precision and safety of braking.
  • Taillight: Yes, the GEO has a rear light with brake detector thanks to having integrated the power battery inside the frame. Due to the All in One electrical system, the Curve could not have a light connected.
  • Fork: The GEO comes equipped with a carbon fiber fork, a material used by the most upscale brands as it offers great strength and lightness.
